Pop-up fundraising cafe on Easter Saturday

HGSS is popping up at St. Peter's Church, Harrogate in running a cafe for the day in aid of raising funds. On sale will be lots of glorious edible home-baked goodies from soup to scones to cakes and much more. The usual soft beverages will also be available. Please do come along with hungry stomachs to support us in helping to keep the society alive and kicking in the community - and treat yourself to a few buns in the process!

29 February (a very important date indeed!)

Happy 40th birthday Frederic!

Without giving away too much of the plot - you have yet to see us on stage, of course - today (29 February) is Frederick's 40th birthday, having been born in a leap year on this very day. So, we could not let our music rehearsal go by without wishing Frederick the very best of birthdays (after all, he only has one every four years) and baking him a very special cake.
Frederick is seen here cutting the cake with Mabel, and not looking anywhere near his 40 years (especially if you take the Leap Year effect into account!). So, Frederick, Happy 40th Birthday to you!

Ahoy! Could you be a pirate ... (or even a policeman)...?
Our 'Singalong of Pirates in January was a really enjoyable informal afternoon and we are delighted that, as a result, we have now welcomed some new members into the Society.
We are still looking for more men to join the chorus as pirates and policeman. This is a great opportunity to be directed by a top (ex-D'Oyly Carte) professional director in Alistair Donkin, who this year also stars in the show as the Major General.
Music rehearsals are starting at 7.30pm on Monday 15 February at St. Paul's URC, Belford Road, Harrogate HG1 1EL
Please have a wander through our Members Pages and the Pirates of Penzance page (select from the left hand menu) for more detail.

Pirates needed in land-locked Harrogate! Oh, and police and daughters for General Stanley too...
The Pirates of Penzance is the major production for the society in May this year. We have a fantastic line-up of Principals (please see who is who by accessing our dedicated 'Pirates' page).
We are really excited to be throwing open our doors on Saturday 23 January for a fun sing-through of the show, and hoping to see many new faces who may be interested in having a go, listen to the music, join in the singing - and then think about joining the chorus of this fantastic show.
Details are on our Members Page/Rehearsal Schedule.
Looking forward to seeing some new faces as well as our existing members getting together for this new exciting year.
